I played around with one today. Reading books was magnificent. Wonderful. Viewing movies and TV (the latter through an app connected to a home DVR) quite good. Note-taking seemed fine. One can use it to control Keynote presentation via VGA adapter. But best of all: The ability to control one's home computer. One can access one's home Mac and play around with, say, Photoshop, remotely. From the iPad. This function is the function I want most, aside from the ebooks. It looks as good as I had hoped.

Wirkman, I didn't mean to imply you can't connect an external keyboard to it. What i meant is there is no keyboard built in. So if I'm sitting in bed, without the keyboard, I'm limited. Etc.

I do have the Apple wireless bluetooth keyboard and it works very nicely with this. I did notice I kept reaching down to swipe the track pad... which does not exist. If they would make/permit a keyboard with a trackpad that would be much better... though you can also reach up and touch the screen, granted.

But one advantage of a keyboard is the ability to COMMAND-TAB to flip between apps. Until such a functionality is introduced you are still hampered even if you connect an external keyboard.

You mention the keyboard problem. But I'm told it works with almost any bluetooth keyboard. Why not try to connect your iMac's bluetooth keyboard?
